STAC Report: kdb+ 3.1 with Intel SSD DC S3700 on IBM x3750 M4, using STAC-M3

System using kdb+ 3.1 set a record for NBBO performance and was at least 2x faster in 14 of the 17 response-time benchmarks than an identical system using kdb+ 2.8.

9 September 2013 - New York

STAC has just released a STAC Report covering audited baseline STAC-M3 Benchmarks of Kx Systems kdb+ 3.1, and the IBM System x3750 M4 server with 4 x Intel Xeon E5-4650 (Sandy Bridge) CPUs and an IBM ServeRAID M5110e controller.

This stack set a new record for NBBO performance (STAC-M3.ß1.1T.NBBO.LAT2), beating the next best published result by 38%.

It also provided a good comparison of the kdb+ 3.1 implementation of STAC-M3 versus the kdb+ 2.8 implementation, since the platform in this audit was identical to that of a previous audit that used kdb+ 2.8 (SUT ID: KDB130515). The kdb+ 3.1 system was at least 2x faster in 14 of the 17 response-time benchmarks. Several were much faster than that, including one that was 18x faster.

Qualified members of the STAC Benchmark Council can access the report here.

Qualified subscribers may also request to inspect or run the STAC-M3 Pack for kdb+ 3.1 (the q and k code for the kdb+ implementation) here.
